Dr Liana Al-Labadi



Dr. Liana Al-Labadi completed her undergraduate studies in Biochemistry at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. She is a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Optometry, where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2009. She received post-graduate training in an Ohio State University affiliated Ocular Disease Residency Program at the Ohio Eye Alliance Surgical Center. Dr. Liana returned back to Palestine in July 2010, where she was appointed as head of the Optometry Department for five years at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at An-Najah National University in Nablus. She is now actively involved in developing specialty clinical optometric services in Palestine and was involved in creating the first teaching primary eye care clinic, which she currently runs and supervises at An-Najah National University. Her main focus now involves working with international and local institutions in developing vision rehabilitation services for school children enrolled in mainstream schools. Dr. Liana’s research interests includes vision screening among the pediatric population, keratoconus and dry eye. She has presented posters at the EastWest Eye Conference and was a guest speaker at multiple conferences in Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon.
She has also volunteered her professional skills by providing comprehensive eye exams to people in need in countries such as Nicaragua and Ecuador. In addition, she has organized and participated in various community work and volunteering projects in the occupied 1948 and West Bank areas.
