Dr Sandra Block

Biography

Dr. Block graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry (1981) completing a Pediatric Residency focused on Multiply Handicapped Children and has been teaching since 1982. She completed a Master in Education and Master in Public Health (2016). Her focus has always been eyecare for children and individuals with disabilities. In 2011, Dr. Block became the Medical director of School-Based Clinics serving Chicago Public School Children. She is a Global Clinical Advisor for Special Olympics Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes since 1995 with the goal to increase access to quality eye care for persons in intellectual disabilities worldwide. Currently, she is chair of the Public Health Committee for the World Council of Optometry and has been member of the National Center for Children’s Vision and Eye Health since it was created. She has multiple national and international publications and presentations.
